ReStore's Impact and Process
While the Bloomington ReStore helps keep literal tons of reusable items out of the landfill and environment, the ReStore also plays a significant role in improving the lives of local residents not only as a home improvement store but as a non-profit community resource. The benefits of the ReStore are threefold:
Donors can dispose of home goods in an environmentally friendly way as the ReStore provides a sustainable solution for such items.
Buyers can appreciate the discounted prices that provide affordable options for every family and are also great for DIY projects.
The entire community can take pride in the fact that the revenue from our store remains local and helps families build homes right here in McLean County.

In addition, they have diverted over 325 tons a year on average over the past four years through our reuse initiatives. Over the past four years, more than 400,000 individual items have been kept out of the landfill. With support from local donors and shoppers, the ReStore has brought in over $4 million on behalf of Habitat for Humanity of McLean County as of 2018, and that number continues to grow!
Our trajectory plan includes being able to build ten sustainable homes per year, within five years. The growth of the ReStore has supported the growth of the local Habitat for Humanity mission in continuing to pay it forward in McLean County. We encourage you to join us in our mission of paying it forward, whether it be by donating, shopping, volunteering throughout the year, or becoming a partner organization.
